Hard to believe? We know. We all feel his remorse, really. That is why, we are trying our best to do what we can to help him get back his MacBook as soon as possible.

It happened at night (April 28th 2009) at Hongkie Kopitiam @ E-Gate, Penang, at 10.02pm to be exact – where someone from behind snatched the MacBook bag which he put on the floor right next to him, without him noticing, since he was chatting with his friend then. When he did eventually realize that his MacBook was missing, he sought for help and saw the whole incident via CCTV.

Truth to be told, the loss of the machine doesn’t bother him as much, really. What bothers him the most is the loss of the data in his MacBook. It’s terrible, and heartbreaking.

That is why we want to see if we can leverage the power of the Internet to help him. It is April 22nd and it is Earth Day once again. Slightly over a month ago, the entire world came as one over the glitzy Earth Hour campaign, giving their pledge to uphold the universe and save the world from extinction.

It was an effort definitely worth admiring for. However, the euphoria over “saving the environment” then went quiet – very quiet indeed. In fact, most of us went back to our daily routine, and all the fuss about saving the environment, going green and stopping global warming came to a halt. It’s as though everyone suddenly had dementia and forgot what just happened the night before, it’s as though the whole campaign is like a pop reality show where the excitement ends when the show is over.

This should not be the case. Earth Day or Earth Hour should be celebrated on a daily basis. In that spirit, Exabytes have interviewed some of our family members and they have come up with 3 brilliant things you can do to continue help save the environment. The effort may be little, but if done every day, it will definitely give a huge impact to the world!

• “Walk, don’t drive. Think of how much greenhouse gases you get to reduce if you can stay off the road in just two days a week while burning some calories and improving your health too. If you can’t walk or bike, consider carpool instead. Every car not on the road makes a difference.”

• “Turn off the water tap while you’re brushing your teeth. Everytime you do this, you’re contributing something good to the environment. The little things can make a big difference.”

• “Often a few times I see people leaving their car running while they wait for someone. It’s okay to leave it on if you know you’ll be there for less than a minute. Otherwise it’s more efficient to turn it off and restart it when you’re ready to go,”

We’ve been dreaming for it for days. We’ve been anticipating for its arrival like a kid waiting for Santa’s presents. And finally, it arrived – it’s Bungalow Stay @ Penang Hill time!

Our jolly-fun trip started at Penang Hill’s downhill station, where all of us gathered at one place while waiting for our train tickets. The queue was really long when we got there. It took us about half an hour for us to get our tickets and it felt even forever for the funicular train to arrive. But finally it did, and we got on board and up, up to the hill! The view was really scenic along the way, we couldn’t help feeling blown away!

And then we reached the top. As soon as we stepped our feet on uphill station, we were immediately separated into four groups :

• Black Group (Transformers)
• Blue Group (The Simpsons)
• Orange Group (South Park)
• Red Group (The Incredibles)

Suddenly we heard some of our female staffs shrieked! We turned around and were caught off guard when we saw some of the tourists taking pictures which a large, slimy, yellow snake! Goodness! However, not wanting to miss this chance of a lifetime experience, we gathered all the confidence we could muster, and braved ourselves to take pictures with the snake as well! Don’t believe us? Oh wow, where does the time go? Before we know it, it’s Easter already!

Easter is the time of springtime festivals – a time to welcome back the Tulips, Crocuses and the Daffodils. It’s also a time for Christians to celebrate the life, death and resurrection of Christ. Oh! And not forgetting, a time for chocolate bunnies, marshmallow chicks, and colorful colored eggs too, of course! Weeha!

And since Easter is just a couple of days away, we, the staffs from Exabytes, would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a basketful of eggs-tra good wishes for a very Happy Easter!

We’re back and we’re just as excited to announce our next EOTM for the year 2009! So here comes another deserving star, and this month, we’ve decided to award our prestigious Employee of the Month to… the Mars’ resident still!

Now, let’s get up close (but not too close!) and personal with this month’s EOTM, shall we? Now, despite being known as the “shy lad” in the office (aww), this chap has shown such remarkable dedication and commitment in his profession, it is very rare to find him disappointing neither the customers, nor us! In fact, he is that committed in executing his tasks, he was said to have even spent some nights in the Data Center just to troubleshoot and monitor some servers with issues! Hmm. Wonder how it’s like to spend the nights in the freezing cold Data Center eh? :S He is also very competent at what he does that his eyes are said to be transfixed at the monitor screen 24/7 to scan for any server with issues, while his ears are sensitive to any bleeping sounds from the bleeper for any signs of possible server failure! Needless to say, our servers are safe and secured under the watchful eyes of this lad, which is why he is regarded as our guardian, friend and protector. Therefore let’ give it up for our reigning king of this month ladies and gentlemen – Mr Khuzaini (aka Mr Jai), Exabytes Server Aid Savior!

So what are the traits he has, making him the best yet among the rest? Let’s check it out!

• Manage to do follow-up consistently and efficiently.
• Hardworking and full of initiatives.
• Is very supportive towards all company’s events.
