Yes, the secret is out and it’s time to announce yet another deserving star for this month! This time around, witness the power of a man, as the throne goes back to the manhood this time!

Okay. If there is one person in Exabytes who speaks machine language as much as his mother-tongue language, it would be none other than this incredible lad, whose 2/3 of his life is mostly spent in front of his laptop, getting extremely “high” when troubleshooting and writing codes every now and then. However, if you do not see him coding and typing feverishly away at his laptop, you would probably be seeing him staring intently deep into the laptop screen, surfing for new technology updates for research and development for the company. Now that’s what you get for being a computer programming intellect! That’s what you get for being Exabytes R&D Software Engineer, the one and only – Mr Liew Soo Hung!

So what are the traits he has, making him the best yet among the rest? Let’s check it out!

If you have never heard of it, you must have been living under a rock all this while – no offense! Really, it’s been held all over the world – US, Australia, Italy, Singapore, India – you name it! And last year, it was held for the very first time in Malaysia and boy, did it rock! We were told that there was one room, too jam-packed with people, that there was no room left for breathing! No kidding! So for those of you who have missed last year’s action-packed event, you better get your eyes wide open now and read on!

Well GUESS WHAT! BarCamp is here once again to rock your world! And this time, we are going north – to Penang, baby! Now in case you aren’t already aware of it, BarCampPenang is one big gathering comprising geeks and nerds all over the world, sharing one interest and passion – technology! Okay, so we maybe that one bit about “geeks & nerds” is a little exaggerated, but really, as long as you have even the slightest interest in technology, you should really join this huge event!

So what if you’re not much of a tech-geek but still interested to share your passion on a different issue? Automotive, environment, music, perhaps? No problem! Just come on over and share, as this event is all about sharing and learning in an open environment regardless of what your topic of interest is! All you have to do, is drag yourself there (admission is FREE!), gather all the confidence you could muster, speak up, demo and share! And unlike the usual boring one-way conference, where the speaker talks and the audiences snore, this gathering is basically the opposite. This gathering is all about 2-way communication where participation is highly encouraged and audiences are expected to engage in communication.

Our mama used to go hysterical at the sight of us and SEGA (and PlayStation too) being romantically in love all day all night. She used to shout at us : “Go study! That video game ain’t gonna help you make money!” But little did she know that at Exabytes, we actually get RM500 worth of prizes just by being good at playing it! Haha!

Recently, Exabytes just threw our first ever Wii Championship to determine the team with the best exergaming (exercise+gaming) skills in the office! It kick-started in middle of March and ended early May. Organized by our four hardworking event planners – Ku, Keat, Roger, and Guan – it was one of the most exciting activities we have ever done so far – and healthy too as the games played required us to be physically active!

All that we had to do, was to form up a team (there were 8 teams altogether) and compete with each other – league style. The aim for each team was to collect and accumulate as many points possible for each game played in Wii Sports and Wii Play. The team with the most accumulated points wins the championship! As easy as that! Now let’s have a peek of us in action!

Hello and attention all! The time has come again, and it is the time that you’ve all been waiting for – the announcement of the new Exabytes’s Employee of The Month!

Before we can reveal our EOTM for all of you to know, let us talk a little about becoming the “number one” in anything. What does it take to be number one, really? Well at Exabytes, it takes strength, courage, drive, and of course, passion to do more and better each time. All of which we can find in this wonderful lady (yes, the throne goes back to the Venus’s residents this time!), who is not only popular among us in Exabytes, but also among our customers, that’s for sure. This is because this lady, who always manages to light up the entire office with her cheerful charisma every day, is never found to be disappointing us nor the customers, thanks to her ability to multitask efficiently. From troubleshooting programs, to monitoring the servers, to replying customers’ tickets, to hyping up the crowds at company’s events, she has definitely done a great job this quarter. That is why ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, we are thrilled to announce our April EOTM, also the System Enginer of our company – Ms Tan Ee Dawn, Exabytes Wonder Woman!

There are many distinctive traits that made Ms Dawn everybody’s sweetheart, but what are they? Let’s find out!
